Nixon Watches
Web & Mobile Experience
Nixon is a lifestyle brand that specializes in elegantly designed watches along with an array of other products. As the brand expanded, Nixon encountered a limitation with their custom-built site. While beautiful, it lacked the proper content management system to run the campaign it wanted.
Nixon was looking to have a complete transfer of their site to Shopify along with assistance in UX optimizations.
I was able to uncover some uncover opportunities for improvement and apply best practices to already existing areas.
UX Phase
β
The goal was for UX and Development to sync on how best to transfer the website to Shopify and UX to uncover optimizations along the way.
I had to collaborate with developers and provide detailed artifacts:
UX to take inventory of every element on the site
UX to break down each individual module and element into content models for developers to build
UX to detail specifications of all module functionalities and CMS customizations
UX to recommend optimizations for new build
Discovery IA
Like any good website build, it starts with IA. Since our team did not build the original site, i needed to take a look at the structure.
This document was used to convey the scope of pages and get an undersyanding of how the development would be building pages
Module Management
After getting the view of the site structure, development needed a better understanding of how the modules worked in order for them to turn into templates.
I made a log of modules and their likely variation I summarized from my module audit.
The final step was to work with the developer to create functionality and rules for these modules.
UX Optimizations
During the design integration process, I ran a UX audit to review modules but also uncover UX optimizations.
The goal was to apply general best practices but also make sure the site worked as efficiently as possible for their mobile experience.
I uncovered around a dozen opportunities and presented them to the Nixon team.
